STEP INTO THE PAST

March 15 & 16, 2024

Join us on a short wander in Warburton & experience snippets of our local Upper Yarra Valley settlement history come to life through vignettes performed by Mad Hatter Theatrics and projections of historical images by Little Projector Company.

We start the evening with a performance up on the Rail Trail behind the Waterwheel and then continue by foot to the Peace Garden behind the Warburton RSL. Our evening finishes at St.Mary's Hall with hot drinks and some live music. 

PERFORMANCE THEMES: Rail Trail: Tourism in the Olden Days, Peace Garden: Anzacs -War & Peace, St.Mary's Hall: Life in the Valley in 50's/60's  - PLEASE NOTE: the performance and projections at the Peace Garden include themes/images of war. 

CHILDREN: Due to the nature of the performances and our themes, this event is suitable for older children who are interested in learning about our local history. Parents are responsible for making sure that their children behave respectfully during the performances and stay with them during the walk which will take place after dark.

WHEN: March 15 (Friday) & March 16 (Saturday), 2024 (same program on both nights)

TIME: Meet at 7.20pm for 7.40pm start

MEETING POINT: On the Rail Trail behind the Warburton Waterwheel Information Centre, near Cog Bike Cafe, in Warburton (see the map below)

FINISH: At St.Mary's Hall around 10pm

WALKING DISTANCE: About 1.3 kms - along a footpath and the River Walk (accessible)

NOTE:

  • Bring your ticket with you for check-in 

  • Dress according to the weather

  • Bring a torch 

  • At two locations there are no seats so you need to be able to stand for about 40 minutes at the first location (during check-in, introduction & performance) and about 20 minutes at the second location. Alternatively bring a camping chair.

  • For catering purposes, please let us know, if you have any special dietary requirements (write this on the booking form)

TICKETS: $5 adults, $2 kids (aged 4-14 years old).

There is a limited number of tickets for sale so get in early!

ADVERSE WEATHER: If a total fire ban is declared or severe weather warning given, the event will not go ahead. In case of rain, the entire event will take place indoors at St.Mary's Hall. Ticket holders will be notified should any of this occur.
